Opening: Nieuw Celebrities

On the evening of the World Cup final, Karmel Sabri presents 'Nieuw Celebrities', a new outdoor artwork at Van Eesteren Museum. At its center is a life-size inflatable sculpture of Karam Abdalqader Suleiman, an eight-year-old boy from Dura, Hebron.
The form of the artwork is derived from inflatable military decoys and reinterpreted as a symbolic act of protection, through which he - and children like him - advocates for the right to play in peace.
The opening of Nieuw Celebrities is on July 19 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. During the opening, there will be a 50-minute performance by the Andalusian Orchestra, focusing on Palestinian solidarity within football culture and its significance for Nieuw-West.
The artwork will be on display at the Van Eesteren Museum on the 19th of July, after that it will travel and be on display at other locations in Nieuw-West. Admission is free, but an RSVP via the button below is appreciated.
