Osdorp is the last completed garden city in the Western Garden Cities. We are now in the early sixties of the last century. Housing production is increasingly standardized and high-rise buildings are the way to meet the ongoing demand for homes. Although Osdorp was the last to be built, it is also the first garden city where urban renewal began in the 90s. The aim of urban renewal was to offer more types of housing: buy and rent in different price ranges, apartments, single-family homes and urban villas, so that residents of Osdorp can then make a living career in their own neighborhood. In recent years, the idea of the multi-core city has been added, with the center around Osdorpplein, more facilities and shops and a mix of living.

During this walk, we walk along the skyline of the Sloterplas, Frans van Gool's flats and a beautiful swag farm from the 1950s. We see examples of renovation and transformation. We discover where a highway would one day be built and how the greenery in Osdorp was and is being realized. We look at the innovation around Osdorp Square and see how old and new become intertwined. What was good about the AUP, what did we learn, and how do we build Osdorp now?
