Clay workshop: Imaginary playgrounds

In this workshop artists Esra Sakir invites participants to explore the role of play gardens in our daily lives through the use of clay.
In it the participants will reflect on questions like:
- Who are playgrounds for—only children?
- How can we create space for adults?
- How can design emphasize organic forms and biodiversity?
Inspired by Aldo and Hannie Van Eyck’s postwar play gardens, we’ll explore structuralism, functionalism, and human-scale city planning.Using ancient and abstract forms as inspiration, participants will create their own clay designs for contemporary play spaces. The workshop is open to both children and adults.
After a short historical introduction and warm-up drawing session, Esra will guide participants in hand-building techniques.
The day will conclude with a group reflection on our creations.
No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and creativity! All the materials are included. Bringing an apron is advised.
The workshop lasts approximately until 16.00h.
