Art Journey in Nieuw-West
Join the Van Eesteren Museum on an Art Journey in Nieuw-West.
With guide and artist Rob Loos, we will search for impressive, public works of art on the banks of the Sloterplas: the green and blue heart of the Western Garden Cities. One vertical, the other horizontal. One sleek, abstract and masculine, the other round, lying and feminine. Visual, green, nautical and architectural works of art. The artwork by André Volten Construction in H Balk Din 30 and Big Landscape by Wessel Couzijn. What do we think about it?
Along the way, we will look at some others of the more than 200 works of art that were realized in public spaces in the Western Garden Cities during the reconstruction period 1945-1960. They portrayed the new impetus of democracy after the Second World War: on the streets, on facades, on bridgeheads. We cycle around Dik Trom and through the Gate of Constant, recently declared a municipal monument.
Please note: You need your own bike for the bike ride.
