SLIDE (2026) by Afaina de Jong

Since its inception, Nieuw-West has been a district where a lot of playing happens. Next to Van Eesteren Museum stands an original playground by architect Van Eyck, who built hundreds of playgrounds throughout the city during the post-war reconstruction. Architect Afaina de Jong designed an artwork and slide called SLIDE. De Jong, like Van Eyck, creates a playful, original, and imaginative public space that invites play, not just for children but for adults too.

SLIDE was commissioned by Van Eesteren Museum and Amsterdam Nieuw-West District and made possible by the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts and Zadelhoff Cultural Fund.
