From the water, everything looks different. In the Western Garden Cities, a lot of care has gone into the water: in the quantity, the banks, the bridges and other (civil engineering) works of art. The blue lines are important urban planning drivers of the AUP, the 1935 General Expansion Plan. Together with greenery and architecture, they provide a floating landscape of light, air and space. A landscape where we find the large dimensions and the wide view of the old polder landscape in the Sloterplas. The innovative design and materialisation of this blue heart is part of the excursion.

Since 2012, the Van Eesteren Museum has been organising this exclusive sailing safari across the ditches and canals around the Sloterplas several times a year. During the trip, attention is paid to water-related style features, monuments, art, greenery, nature and environment, history and future, water management and much more.

The boat safari starts at the museum pavilion and ends at Strandcafé Buiten. Halfway through the cruise, we have a drink at De Natuurkamer and a toilet visit is possible. The end time is approximate. The trip is in an open boat. Space is limited. Bring your own seat cushion if needed.
